CAN I USE MY EXISTING PROFILE TO APPLY TO MULTIPLE JOBS?
Yes, to apply using an existing profile, just click on the job listing that you are interested in. Below the job description, select “Existing Resume/CV” and log into your profile when prompted. Once you have logged in, look at the submittal history where you will see the previous applications and click “Submit this profile” to the right. This will submit your information for the next application and if you are presented with an Electronic Application form, your previous answers will still be populated. Just continue through the form and update, as needed. Once you click “Submit and Continue,” you will receive a confirmation that the application was submitted.
CAN I APPLY BY JUST SENDING IN MY RESUME?
Due to the volume of requests, we only review applicants that have registered with us in our OpenHire applicant tracking system. We request that you take the time to create an online profile. The new studio, HouseSpecial, will continue to specialize in short to mid-form animated content for advertising and broadcast markets. DO I NEED TO PROVIDE A DEMO REEL WITH MY APPLICATION?
Yes. Due to the volume of materials we receive, we must restrict our recruitment process to only those applicants that have provided us with enough information to make an informed decision. DO I NEED TO SEND YOU A MATERIALS SUBMISSION AGREEMENT IF I APPLIED ONLINE?
There is no need to attach a copy of this agreement to your online application or to mail us a hard copy.
When you first set up your online profile, you authorized approval of the agreement by clicking “OK,” which grants us permission to view your materials. While less formal, this is sufficient to allow us to view your online portfolio work.
We only require the materials submission agreement when individuals send us a physical portfolio through the mail. We, however, prefer that you provide us a link or connect your materials as separate attachments to your online profile. This allows all of our hiring managers to easily view your materials.
WHY AM I HAVING TROUBLE LOGGING INTO MY PROFILE?
Some applicants experience problems logging into their profile because the system is case sensitive; for example, if someone sets up their email address with any uppercase letters they will need to do the same to log in. We recommend that you keep a record of your log-in information for future use. If you lose your password, LAIKA representatives do not have access to your information and you must request a password reset by email. Please be aware that the system has been set up to prevent duplicate profiles from being created, and deleting/retiring your profile’s information cannot be substituted for resetting your password.
WHY IS IT THAT WHEN I CLICK ON THE "CREATE A PROFILE" LINK THAT I REMAIN ON THE CAREER HOME PAGE?
This error can occur whenever pop-ups are blocked. Please enable your pop-ups and then clear your privacy preferences: clear your recent search history, cookies, cache, and offline website data. In most systems you will then be required to shut down temporarily in order for these changes to take effect.
I AM HAVING DIFFICULTIES REMOVING MY OLD RESUME FROM MY PROFILE. SHOULD I JUST WITHDRAW MY APPLICATION AND START OVER?
When you click the "delete" icon to the left of the attachment it will actually remove the file from the system; it just does not reflect this in the candidate view. LAIKA, however, will only have access to the replacement file. Please do not withdraw your application when switching out your resume. This will remove you from any of our active searches, and will prevent any future notifications. In fact it is typically not necessary to remove any older information from a profile. Please just update your profile with new attachments. The newer information will simply appear first in your application when reviewed by our recruiters.
WHAT IF I RECEIVE A "CURRENT ACTION TEMPORARY UNAVAILABLE" MESSAGE DIRECTLY AFTER UPLOADING A RESUME?
This typically occurs only when your resume file name is either too long, or contains special symbols such as parentheses, asterisks, slashes, etc. If you reduce the file name to less than 14 characters and remove any symbols from the file name, the issue will be resolved.
WHY WON'T MY PDF COVER LETTER ATTACH TO MY PROFILE?
Please be aware that while our system has been designed to provide neutral service, some browsers and systems perform less optimally during the application process. Additionally it has come to our attention that there is a known issue with all versions of Firefox for Windows and how it interacts with Flash based file uploaders. Applicants utilizing Firefox browser on Windows OS or anyone else who can't select their PDF document should look to upload their cover letters and other materials in non-PDF file extensions (.txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx, .html), or switch to one of the supported browsers below.

This problem is specific to the IE11 browser and does not occur in Chrome and Firefox. As a work around, please switch browsers.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I EXPERIENCE ANY OTHER TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES WITH MY ONLINE APPLICATION?
Please be aware that our system is not fully iPad compatible, and when uploading a resume or another attachment, the file name needs to have fewer than fifteen characters without excessive punctuation for it to upload correctly. Also, there is a 45-minute time limit to complete the application or it will error out. People with Macs sometimes experience difficulties uploading documents as they can retain additional HTML coding that overloads the fields. This can be remedied by clearing the privacy preferences: clear recent search history, cookies, cache, and offline website data. In most systems you will then be required to shut down temporarily in order for these changes to take effect. LAIKA generally offers two types of employment opportunities for interested candidates.
Project staff and freelance jobs are temporary positions that do not include benefits, and are designed to fill short-term business needs of less than one year.

Our production schedule prevents us from participating in job shadow programs. Once you enter college, you may qualify for our internship program. College graduates may qualify for trainee positions.
Furthermore LAIKA offers paid internships at an entry-level hourly rate as all of our interns will be expected to perform productive work of an immediate benefit to the company during their training. It is definitely acceptable to apply even though you haven’t acquired three professional references. We would encourage you, however, to consider asking a professor or respected classmate who is familiar with your schoolwork if they would be willing to act as your reference. Another option is to include a co-worker or supervisor who worked with you in a different occupation. These references can speak to your overall work ethic and performance standards. When lacking professional references, it is even more important to showcase your abilities. It is recommended that you include additional portfolio work to showcase your abilities. WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE INTERNSHIP?
Students must be available for eight consecutive weeks; most internships last twelve weeks.

HOW LONG ARE THE INTERNSHIP POSITIONS POSTED FOR?
The timeline for filling our internships is completely dependent on the quality of applicants applying and the amount of competition for each position. Thus, intern positions are open until filled, unless a deadline for applying appears on the posting.
CAN I APPLY TO YOUR INTERNSHIPS IF I AM NOT IN COLLEGE?
Unfortunately no. We only accept junior- or senior-level college students that have already shown exceptional promise within their specialty. Many of our finalists are award-winning artists from leading art institutions across the country. All of LAIKA’s employees, including our interns, need to perform at or above a certain skill level; this requirement has been established to give them every chance of success, as foundational knowledge necessary to perform their roles will be expected.
DO YOU ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS?
Unfortunately we do not offer international internship opportunities. We are at the beginning stages of developing our internship program and have not yet established the formal parameters that are necessary when providing academic credit to our participants or the structured training process that is required in legally obtaining a J-1 visa.
